Disk Errors Checking for Windows XP

Scandisk utility is not available in Windows XP. But, we can use the error-check tool for Windows XP to see the integrity of our hard drive. To check for errors and bad sectors on our hard disk, follow these steps:

1. Double-click the My Computer icon, then right-click the local disk we want to check.

2. Click Properties, click Tools.
3. Under error-checking, click Check Now.
4. In Check disk options, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box.
5. Click Start.
