Installing IIS 5.1 Web Server on Windows XP

IIS web server is a web server provided by Microsoft, which is used as a server for the website based on asp or asp.net. to install a web server in our computer, follow the steps :

1. Go to the control panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components

2. After windows Component wizard appears, find check box “Internet Information Services” and checked that options.

and choose details button to adjust more options

3. After that, press OK button to the next steps of installing IIS Web Server

and the installations begin.

if the window below appears, please insert the the CD Windows XP into your CD room. there is some file that the IIS installations needed to complete the installation step.

press OK button and browse the files which is store in CD windows XP content

(usually, file store in “i386” directory inside the CD)

after complete to search and choose the file that the installations needed, press OK button to continue the IIS installations.

after a several minutes, the installations will complete and IIS web server has been installed in our computer.

4. to check the IIS web server, open the web browser and type in the address “http://localhost”

and Thats all we have to do !!

we have our own web server to store some file to publish in the world wide web.
